‘Education is the foundation
for all we do in life, it shapes who we are and what we aspire to be.
Creativity fuels innovation, and it's what all states should strive to instill
in the coming generations.’ Keeping alive the core spirit and values as
the foundation, with utmost precision and transparency, the Orientation
Day Programme of St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram was held on March 24, 2018.
The day started with the Lord’s
Prayer, followed by lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest, Mr. Roy Robinson (Principal,
Bishop Cotton School, Shimla) and Guests of Honour Rev. S. Solomon (Member of the School Governing Body) and Mr.
Ashwin Bhatia (Founder – Ubuntu Learnings LLP). Also, the members of the school
management provided the much needed support by their august presence.
The
programme commenced with an invocation to God for the well-being of all. It was
further presided over by the respected Principal, Mr. Nicholas Gomes addressing
the parents and giving them a detailed update on the progress of the school. He
also familiarized the parents as ‘partners in progress’ and threw light on the
concept of parent-teacher partnership. He, with utmost pride stated, ‘After
completion of four successful academic sessions, St. Xavier’s High School,
Gurugram now aims at touching new heights in the coming academic session.’
To
acquaint the parents with the curriculum, norms and protocols regarding
punctuality and discipline, rules and regulations, teaching methodologies,
assessment pattern and the co-scholastic activities a thorough session was
taken up by the Headmistresses of the Primary School and Middle School. They
also introduced the teaching faculty members and the school admin team. It was
followed by an interactive session for the parents with Mr. Ashwin Bhatia who
gave an insight about the ways for handling behavioural issues of children. The
interaction proved to be very fruitful and gave the parents a good opportunity
to pose all their queries related to the child’s better upbringing. Last but
not the least, the enthralling and soulful performance rendered by the school
music team filled the entire arena with thunderous claps and cheers!
The parents later had the opportunity
of interacting with the respective class teachers. They were also provided with
the handouts that contained all the relevant information for the children.
With the note that a
parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school and the child
is the centre of our universe, the programme came to an end. It was culminated
with the National Anthem. Seeing such content look on the faces
of all the parents was indeed a proud moment for the school.
