Christmas is
indeed the time of mangers and miracles and a few Christmas Carols to
set the mood right and welcome the season is like an icing on the cake.On the 21st of December, St.
Xavier’s High School, Gurugram hosted its third Inter School Carol Singing
Competition ‘EMMANUEL: A Musical Consonance!’
The event was graced by the esteemed
presence of Dr.Aman Bathla, world’s fastest piano artists, Guests of Honour Ms.
Deborah Saini, an exceptional musician and Rev Daman Rodgers, Church of
Epiphany, Gurgaon, The event also witnessed the magnetism of the Director of
St. Xavier’s group of schools, eminent school Principal, Headmistresses and
teachers and students from revered schools across Delhi/NCR.
The competition was divided into two
categories. In category I, students from grades V to VIII participated and in
category II, students of grades IX to XII took part. Each choir had a maximum
of 15 participants including the instrumentalists. The
soulful and charismatic singers were judged on their
Synchronization, Rhythmic Skill, harmonious demonstration and their themed
costumes used in their audio and visual presentation.
This year the saga of the Inter School
Carol Singing Competition was held in the school with a greater zest. Keeping up with tradition, the programme
commenced with the cake cutting ceremony followed by the School Anthem. The
participants sang a range of Christmas carols and hymns spreading the
message of reliance, joy and concord. Their euphonious voices charmed everyone
present there.
The tuneful
extravagance was indeed a splendid way to ring in the Christmas bells. Each performance came to a closure by the
resounding applauds from the audience. All the participants performed
exceptionally well but in category A (Grade V – VIII) the winners were Manav
Rachna, Sector 46, Gurugram, Manav Rachna, Sector – 51, Faridabad, Shikshayan
School, and Gurgaon. They bagged the first, second and third positions
respectively. In category B (Grade IX-XII) the first position was bagged by Lotus
Valley School, Gurgaon, the second position was won by Sherwood Convent School,
and the third position was won by Blue Bells Model School. .The dynamic presentations of the brilliant Xavierians
in both the categories made everyone proud. St, Xaviers, Sector 49, won
second and first position in Category I and II respectively, however, being the
host school they did not contest for the prize.
The entire programme was concluded
by an energetic dance presentation showcased by the talented dancers of St.
Xavier’s who had truly made everyone tap their feet on the rhythm. The chief guest was
superlative in his appreciation of the young talented musicians. He stated that
he felt highly honoured and delighted to have visited St. Xavier’s High School,
Gurgaon.
He also appreciated the efforts put in
by the students and their facilitators for presenting such an amazing show.
The event not only provided a platform
to foster their audio and visual skills and creativity but also helped them to
explore their hidden talents. The program
concluded with immense hope and happiness shining through the eyes of the
participants.
