The first edition of the Inter-School Debate Competition( British Parliamentary Style) ‘Tryst With Diplomacy’ , organised by St. Xavier‘s High School, Sector 49 Gurugram, on November 19, 2022, showcased the oratory skills of students of classes 9 to 12 on a cartwheel of topics. The aim of the competition, was to hone public speaking skills of the students and teach them to be articulate while express in their thoughts and opinions.
The competition which witnessed the participation of 40 teams representing schools hailing from different parts of the country, offered a rare platform for students to interact with those from other campuses.
The Preliminary Round was conducted on a virtual platform on November 15, 2022. All the participants were phenomenal in their calibre and potential. A total of 16 teams made it to the Semi- Final Round.
The schools competed against each other on November 19, 2022. The debaters put forth fierce arguments and a total of 4 teams made it to the ‘Grand Finale’ , which was conducted in the ‘Amphitheater’.
The Finale had Ms Sudeshna Sengupta as the Moderator and Ms Harini Srinivasan, Ms Nupur Mukherjee, Mr Kamalneet as the Adjudicators.
Vania Nayal was adjudged the Best Speaker.
The trophy for the Best Team was bagged by the host school but it was graciously passed over to the First Runner Up School, which was DAV Public School, Sector 49, Gurugram.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony concluded with the Director Principal, Mr John Rafi, presenting a note of gratitude to the , Directors Mr Mohit Sachdeva, Mr Tarun Sachdeva ,the School Principals and participants in bringing the Competition live to the aspirations of its true essence.
