Literature
is where I go to explore the highest and lowest places in the human society and
in the human places, where I hope to find not an absolute truth but the truth
of tale of imagination and the heart.
– Salman Rushdie.
A step taken towards growth is the step which leads
to achievement. An achievement exploring the new ideas by engaging them in the
task and resulting them in excelling. Yes! The Literary fest was a Xavier’s
endeavour which was spread over three days hosting an array of activities
related to the English Language ………. A
step taken to bring back the flavour of the classic eras, engaging in
Shakespearean sonnets, relishing the beauty of nature with Wordsworth and
indulging in the romance of Jane Austen. The events on the first day began with
the lamp lighting by the Chief Guest Ms. Anupa Lal, a famous book writer and
story teller along with Ms. Venessa Ohri, an eminent theater personality.
The fest proceeded further with Ms Anupa Lal’s story
telling session which left the little Xavierian’s wanting for more and
inspired. Her stories were not only inspiring but the hidden moral stimulated
the feelings of compassion and forgiveness in them. She also shared various
tips on how to write better stories and contribute to the literature. Following
it was a theatre workshop by Ms. Venessa Ohri. As it is rightly said “All the
world is a stage and all the men are mere palyers”. Theater plays a vital role
in shaping our skills. We all have that hidden art in us and
literature helps us bring it out. The workshop focused on voice
modulation and facial expressions.
The day was full of fulfilled and inspiring events
like designing the book cover of your favourite author and Spellathon. The highlight
of the day was the inter house Literary Quiz competition and all the four
houses nailed it by giving neck to neck competition to each other. The quiz
tested the knowledge of students in the field of literature, famous authors,
books and characters. The day left students looking for more the next day.
The next dawn was another day with bag full of
goodies for them. The Head boy Aarav Vashishth and Head Girl Ishana Sharma
addressed the assembly by reporting about the events occurred the previous day.
Then after was the much awaited event-“Literary Character Parade”. Disguise
is an art to hide but to showcase and portray someone else is a skill ….. Students
of grade 4-8 came dressed up as their favourite characters from their favorite
book. It was enthralling to watch them delivering the dialogues of Julius
Caeser, Sherlock Holmes, Cleopatra, Matilda and many more. Everyone was so
finely dressed and prepared with the dialects that it was a nail biting
experience for the judges to choose a winner. The treasure hunt was the most
look forward event. The kids were divided in four teams according to their
houses. On the basis of the hidden clues they had to search for the hidden
treasure. The ended with an inspiring session by Ms Sarbani Mandal, Senior
Editor Mc Millan who guided them with tips on editing and then was the Movie
show- Helen Kelller- The Miracle Worker.
The finale of 21st morning was the icing
on the cake as the exhibition put up by the students left everyone awestruck.
The renowned authors were portrayed and the literature and famous works were
showcased in the forms of four different eras: Shakespearean, Romanticism,
Victorian and Modern. The students were awarded with the certificate of
appreciation for their meritorious performance in the fest.
An end is not an end which brings a hope of new
learning, the event was a great success and left the students inspired for
future participation for such events.
