            White Colour Day

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”, Benjamin Franklin. We at St. Xavier’s believe that the best way to teach our children is by involving them in the teaching-learning process. Like all the colours previously introduced, colour white was also introduced in some innovative and exciting ways. Children looked like angels in white sweaters and jackets. They played ‘Scavenger Hunt’ and ‘Colour matching’ games. The white sheep came alive in the class as the little ones enjoyed the craft and had a lot of fun decorating with cotton balls.

"The sanctity of law can be maintained only so as long as it is the expression of the will of the people."

Republic Day marks an important event in India's history as it commemorates the enactment of the Constitution of India which came into effect on January 26, 1950, and made the nation into a republic. It teaches us the concept of Unity in Diversity. Recognizing and appreciating each other’s differences not only creates an environment that is inclusive to everyone, but it is one of the best ways for groups to think creatively and generate ideas for impactful living.

Festivals and celebrations are part of India’s rich culture and tradition. Lohri is one of them which is unique in its perception and significance.
Lohri, a popular folk festival of North India, commemorates the passing of the winter solstice and the beginning of longer days. Lohri is celebrated to mark the start of the harvest season and is observed on January 13 every year. It is a festival of unity, brotherhood, love and harmony. A festival for people to gather around the warmth of a bonfire, sing traditional songs passed down from generation to generation and dance to them! Lohri is celebrated with a lot of zeal, fervour and gaiety.
An interactive session about this beautiful festival was held with our Pre-Primary children and they thoroughly enjoyed it. They also watched a story on Lohri, made beautiful crafts and danced to the beats of the dhol.
Students were dressed in traditional Punjabi attire and relished some traditional Lohri delicacies like groundnuts, rewri, gajak and popcorn. It was a fun-filled day for the little ones that left everyone with a feeling of joy and love.
