A street play "Paani Ki Bachat , HaiAaj Ki Jarurat" performed by the Xaverians

Keeping up the tradition of creating awareness and bringing a change, on August30, 2019, the students of St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram stepped forward and staged a street play on the theme Paani Ki Bachat , HaiAaj Ki Jarurat. The aim of the play was to create awareness among people to conserve water for solving the problem of water scarcity. 26 students of Grade VI enacted numerous scenes showcasing present and future picture of water in various regions of India. People were given tips with which they can avoid wastage of water in their daily life. The young artists laid emphasis on the fact that water is the most important element required for human being and we need to understand the paramount of natural resource available on the planet.

The show was a grand hit and very positively it ushered the changein the mind-set of the audience, change for the betterment of the society! With the help of innovative songs, actions and dialogues, the play highlighted the need to break the silence and work collectively to spread awareness for the need of conserving water.

The play concluded with Headmistress ma’am presenting a formal vote of thanks. After the performance, the entire arena was vibrant with action for a long time as the spectatorsgot into discussions with performers and Xavier’s staff.

    FRUIT SALAD PARTY celebrated by Pre-nURSERY

    Junk food is not only the all-time favourite of the children. If presented in a beautiful way, the healthy fruits too become attractive and delicious. We in Pre Nursery classes made an effort to just do that. 

    Going with the monthly theme ‘Fruits and Vegetables’, a fruit salad party was organized where the children got different kind of fruits from their homes.  A mixed fruit salad was prepared and children couldn’t stop enjoying the juicy, sweet and tangy fruits. They learnt to identify and name each fruit and benefits of relishing healthy fruits. The children also spoke few lines about their favourite fruit in class.

      St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram organised a Mock Parliament Session

      St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram organised a Mock Parliament Session on August 27, 2019. Students of class VIII presented the session with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event was organized to check the debating skills of students as well as their knowledge of the current issues being faced in the country. The main objective of the session was to make students learn and understand the importance of the Indian constitution and working of the parliament. The session started with the Oath Taking Ceremony followed by the question hour.  Opposition leaders asked various questions about the working of ruling government. Issues pertaining to the topics like Railways, Health, Education, IT department etc. were discussed in detail.  The ruling party presented a bill on the topic ‘Eviction of article 370 and 35 A’. Members of the house presented their opinion turn wise and session turned into a healthy debate. Last but not the least, the session proved to be extremely enriching and unfathomably knowledgeable.

        Secret Garden Activity by Grade-Pre-Nursery

        The monthly theme of vegetables and fruits was taught in an innovative way to the children of Pre Nursery A and B. The little ones planted seeds of some fruits and vegetables such as papaya and brinjal in the School’s Vegetable Garden.

        The children enjoyed the hands-on experience activity. Their enormous curiosity and excitement over this fruitful activity was indeed a beautiful sight.

          Today students of Pre- Nursery A& B had aninteractive and educating workshop on ‘Good Touch/ Bad Touch’ by an experienced Special educator.

          Ms Teotia used many interesting ways to help the children learn and follow the rules of ‘personal safety’. She used Role Plays and Power Point Presentations, Stories and Puppetsto make sure that the little ones understand the concept. They understood‘that it’s okay to say no’and ‘how to identify a stranger’ and important to ‘ask adults for help’

            St. Xavier’s family celebrates Janmashtami with great fervour, colour, vigour and gaiety.

            Festivals are characterised by enthusiasm, prayers and rituals.A special assembly on “Janamashtami” was presented by the students ofGrade VI C.The entire school premises were decorated with flowers, buntings, swings and pictures of Lord Krishna.

            The celebration began by offering homage full of devotion to Lord Krishna wherein one of the students of the class recited a self-composed poem on “Lord Krishna”. Also, a few thoughtful sayings of Lord Krishna were presented by the students.

            We all know that Bhakti is the foundation of all spiritual practice.Following the same, the students showcased “Navada Bhakti”, nine ways to connect with Lord Krishna. They also discussed how a person who dedicates his life to the service of Krishna, through these nine ways, is understood to be the most learned person.

            Navada Bhakti was followed by the recitation of some Shlokas from Bhagavad Gita with their Translations in English,

            The students also showcased an enthralling group dance wherein they depicted the birth of Lord Krishna, described his life and also presented the famous “DahiHaandi” practice. This scene was enjoyed with great delight by the students. The students won the soul of spectators by dressing in the attire of Krishna, Gopikas and other various characters. The performance was every bit exquisite and therefore bagged applauds and appreciations from all.

            The school principal congratulated the students on putting up a fabulous dance drama. The event concluded with a message wherein the children were reminded about Lord Krishna’s devotion and obedience to his master.

              the students of class VII Cpresented a thought provoking assembly on the topic ‘Attitude is the paint brush of mind which colours the canvas of life.’

              On 21st August 2019, the students of class VII Cpresented a thought provoking assembly on the topic ‘Attitude is the paint brush of mind which colours the canvas of life.’ The children presented a soul - stirring thought that made everyone realize that,a positive attitude is not just forcing a smile through gritted teeth in the hopes of feeling better; it’s something a lot more profound than that.

              The assembly commenced with the Lord’s Prayer followed by an exuberant welcome by the cheerful anchors. They ignited everyone with the notion that most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.After these inspiring words, the news was rendered and an inspirationaltalk show‘The XAV Talk!’ was presented by a group of students. The children representedeminent personalities who achieved success just because they refused to give up. Few of those included Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Helen Keller, Emily Blunt, ShriNarendraModi, Walt Disney etc.

              The beautifully coordinateddance performance on the theme mesmerized the entire arena. However, the songsung by the students was no less! Italso enthralled and impressed the audience to great heights.

              Last but not the least, words of appreciation by PrincipalSir and Headmistress ma’am filled the students with immense pride. He addressed the gathering and congratulated the class teacher and students for presenting such an amazing show. His words of wisdom encouraged everyone and left every face with a smile. This incredible assembly concluded with the school song followed by the National Anthem.

                Creativity is making marvellous out of the discarded”

                In order to make children aware of the uses of the waste material, and give them a lesson on reducing waste to save our future, a ‘Best Use of a Pet Bottle’ competition was organised on 21st August 2019 for the students of grades V-VIII.

                Little hands and imaginative minds came together in a creative burst of energy during the competition. Mind-blowing, beyond expectation, fantabulous ideas were brought to life by the students. Young Xavierians prepared extremely creative and innovative models and art items from the pet bottles. From these bottles, they created pieces of art like amazing bird feeders, multipurpose stands, flower pots, wine glasses and other useful items. The values like preservation, recycling, conservation, reduce, reuse are imbibed on the young hearts and minds by demonstrating this noble act of caring our environment. It helped the students to develop their fine motor skills while using different kinds of material and also encouraged them to use waste material for making decorative and useable items. It was amazing to see how scrap could be transformed into such useful and beautiful articles. The creativity and artistic streak of the children were observed.

                "Creativity, as has been said, consists largely of rearranging what we know in order to find out what we do not know. Hence, to think creatively, we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted."

                    We celebrate the bravery of our fathers and their gift of freedom. Long may our flag wave! Happy 73rd Independence Day!

                    To give due reverence to the free spirit of our nation and to honour the sacrifices made by the great men,St. Xavier’s High School, Sector 49, Gurugram celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with great vigour and vitality.

                    The entire school was decorated with various works of art by students. The celebration began with the hoisting of the National Flag in the school ground by Mr. Aditya Bhardwaj, Deputy Commandant, CISF, the Honourable Chief Guest, Mr. Tarun Sachdeva, beloved Director of the school, Stanley Anthony, respectable Principal Sir, Headmistresses, Sr. Coordinator and the proud Xavierians.

                    To ignite in their hearts the passion of nationalism, spellbinding speeches were presented by the students. To salute the martyrs, a spectacular dance was performed which left everyone awestruck moistening the eyes of the audience. It truly justified that without our brave combatants, freedom would not have existed. What they did, we can never repay. Followed by it was a musical rendition of patriotic songs by the school choir. The entire school atrium was filled with patriotic fervour.

                    The Principal of the school addressed the gathering, appealing to the patriotic essence and enlightened everyone to take pride in being an Indian. He highlighted that we are Indians, firstly and lastly and this day, i.e. the Independence Day, means to live life without boundaries and limits. Hence, we should honour it, never forget how hard it was to get it and revere independence at all times.

                    The honourable Chief Guest reiterated how men in uniform and students in school uniform could work towards common goal of building our nation powerful in the coming days. Also, the respected school Director wished everyone and inspired all to grow up in true Indian spirit.

                    Sardar Bhagat Singh quoted, ‘May the sun in his course visit, no land more free, more happy, more lovely, than this our country!’With such blessings, our martyrs sacrificed their lives and took their way to the holy abode but left with us this beautiful and independent country. Let’s make a strong decision, to value our nation and never forget the sacrifices from those who gave us freedom. Let’s elevate our hands and rejoice this day, let’s stand up so high to show deference for the countless ones who died for our liberation, let’s sing our national anthem with immense pride and celebrate this wonderful day!

                    Encouraging the patriotic feeling among the students and hoping that the world will act in the spirit of enlightened self-interest, the event came to a conclusion. It culminated with the School Principal proposing the Vote of Thanks. Last but not the least, the school song was sung followed by the National Anthem.

                        Life of our children could become paradoxical if we don't give them a platform to outshine their contemporaries in the literary world.
                        Our children would face paparazzi, be expressive to the well read scripts, groove to the high pitched music, and yet recommend to be acknowledged for their panache on stage.

                          Fest - a – Fiesta powered by St. Xavier’s High School came to a grand close with a magnificent closing ceremony which left the audiences captivated. This three day power packed event, in which a large number of schools participated, was a platform to bring together all the geniuses and the best talents in the city. The winning Trophy was bagged by the Lord Jesus School. This healthy competition between the young children of over thirty schools was indeed a pleasure. This magnanimous event finally came to end today with a promise to all the schools to meet again the next year for our Xavenium 2020.

                            Nothing great has ever been accomplished without passion. In the history of St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram, every year, the school exhibition ‘Avant Garde’ is in itself a day to remember. This year, the exhibition was well thought-out and organized on 3rd of August. The exhibition gave an insight about the hard work put in the by the students for their summer projects. Hundreds of displays dotted several areas of the School Atrium with participation ranging from classes V to VIII. It was a beautiful display of all the projects on various topics and themes that students prepared during their summer vacations. Each and every subject’s holiday assignment was displayed under the specific subject counters.

                            An exhibition in a school reflects the students’ creativity and thematic skills! All the parents were highly impressed by the remarkable work and skillfulness of the students. The entire showcase was a unique result of a unique temperament.Someone has rightly said;an exhibition is never a conclusion; rather it’s the birth of never ending ideas.It was indeed an extremely engaging and enlightening exhibition. This array of artistry was portrayed appealingly and was very well appreciated by the visitors.

                              STORY TELLING WORKSHOP

                              Story telling is a medium to ingrain values, improve comprehension skills and open the minds of children to the world beyond imagination. To derive the maximum out of this traditional art form of teaching and learning, St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram, organized a storytelling workshop for the students of Grades V-VII. The enigmatic story teller, Ms.VandanaTandon, highlighted the essential elements of storytelling bynarrating an astounding story titled ‘Raja and the Goldsmith’ and left the children spellbound.

                              To captivate the audience, set the disposition and build anticipation among all, a beautiful amalgamation of facial expressions, voice modulation and creative gestures was presented by the teller of the tale. The exemplary use of body language and dramatic pauses infused passion, enhanced imagination and familiarized children to new horizons of storytelling. The workshop stimulated the communication skills of the students and gave them an opportunity to augment their self-expression. The spinner of yarns had spread the yarns so innovativelythat the students were glued till the end. The session was indeed highly interactive and was enjoyed by all.

                                Respect for ourselves guides our morals; respect for others guides our manners.To make the students embrace the most sincere form of respect i.e. Respect for Elders, and to bring out their creative expression, on July 11, 2019 an Inter Class Poster Making Competition was organized for the students of St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram. The students displayed their artistic skills through an array of posters. This philosophical endeavour, triggered their thought process and sensitized them towards the elderly and their respect.

                                St. Xavier’s always sets a benchmark for conducting activities in such a way that the students not only enjoy them but also learn a great deal from them. 

                                All the students participated enthusiastically and their competitive spirit was indeed worth a mention. The posters were judged on the basis of creativity, relevancy to the theme and overall presentation. The purpose of the competition was to promote visual arts and enhance arty blend of the students.

                                  "A friend is someone who fills our lives with beauty ,joy and grace. And makes the whole world we live in a better and happier place" The little XAVERIANS of grade NURSERY celebrated the bond of friendship on 02 August 2019.
                                  They listened to stories on FRIENDSHIP and understood the importance of friends in life. The students hugged their friends and tied friendship bands on their friend's wrist.
                                  The little stars went home not only wearing their colourful bands but also lovely smiles on their faces.

                                    The Assembly conducted by Grade VII-B on 1stAugust  was an endeavour to bring home this fact the we should not limit our challenges but challenge our limits. The assembly commencedwith Lord’s prayer followed by thought of the day presented by the students. After this students presented Indian, international, weather and sports news to update the students with the current affairs. Then they recited inspiring poemsin Hindi and English languages. One of the talented studentsgave melodious treat and sang amotivational song which left the audience mesmerized and kept  the theme alive.

                                    After the various sparkling performances, students of grade VII-B displayed the glimpses of the lives of people like Stefan Hawkings, ArunimaSinha, Albert Einstein, Yuvraj Singh, Anne Frank and Helen Keller. These were some of the celebrated people who turned their challenges into stepping stones to success.

                                    The entire assembly was concluded by the impeccable presentation showcased by the young and talented dancers of grade VII-B who had truly set the stage on fire with their tapping footsteps and synchronisation.

                                    Each performance came to a closure by the resounding claps of the spectators.Everyone enjoyed the performances and appreciated the same.
