Students of Grade V performed a Street Play : Sammaan Badon Kaa

NEW

Students of Grade V of St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram enthusiastically participated in an awareness drive on July 31, 2019 through a Street Play that plays an instrumental role in grooming the students and encouraging them to respect their elders. The students enacted a street play in which the audience were made aware of the importance of grandparents in the family. The message was conveyed through songs, actions and dialogues. The play emphasized that the Information Age has put technology at the forefront of human communication; making today a little less personal than days of the past. Between bustling schedules of juggling family life and work, in addition to reaching people through cyberspace as the main mode of connection; manners have somehow been forgotten. Instead of treating our elders with the appreciation and respect they deserve, many are often either too busy or simply dismiss them and their contributions to community and family.

The audience enjoyed and appreciated the performance and even pledged to be polite to elders. As it is righty said,“The elders are the history and mirror of the living past. Study them to brighten your life and future.”

Crucial to education is hands-on involvement: showing, not just telling; real experiments and not just virtual reality.

“Nothing ever becomes real till it is experienced!”  Adding on to the joy of the meticulous Xavierians and to help promote change, inspire global citizenship and build strong community awareness among the children, on July 27, 2019, a day-long excursion to Kidzania was organised for the students of St. Xavier’s high School, Gurugram.  This tour to KIDZANIA not only refreshed them after their Pre Mid Term Examination, but also imparted great learning values likeTime Management, Importance of Teamwork, Care for Environment and Value of Money. The students were be able to explore the fields of Business and Finance, Designing, Engineering, Hospitality and Service, Media Service and Medical Science. Real life learning situations enabled them to learn about professional hassles and their possible outcomes.

Kidzania experience proved to be hands-on, engaging, didactic, and most importantly, fun. By emulating the working of a real city which is built-to-scale for kids, the students got an exceptional learning experience and strengthened in them the bond of friendship, sense of responsibility, value of sharing & caring and quality of independence.

The only thing that the children wanted was more time! The day went so speedily and brimming with excitement, enthusiasm and lovely memories they came back to the school in the evening. Overall, the budding explorers got an excellent opportunity to engage and excel!

Assembly Conducted by Grade IX- B on the topic "VANMAHOTSAVA – a forestation"

        NEW

The humans are not passing on a legacy to the coming generations but rather borrowing their future. With the noble theme of VANMAHOTSAVA – a forestation, the students of grade IX B conducted their class assembly focussing on the importance of saving trees.

The assembly began by seeking lord’s blessings following the thought of the day and word often mispronounced. The students also recited poems on the theme in Hindi, English and Sanskrit. The students also sang a soul connecting  song – Plant a tree for  a tomorrow, which left the students inspired to save the planet earth. The trees are God’s great alphabet: with them he writes in shining green, across the world his thoughts serene, the nimble feet dancers presented a dance drama showcasing the plight of ruthlessness of humans. It emphasised on the fact that the trees have been slaughtered for the selfish deeds of humans. Joyce Meyer once beautifully said “Consider a tree for a moment. As beautiful as trees are to look at, we don’t see what goes on underground – as they grow roots. Trees must develop roots in order to grow strong and produce their beauty. In much the same way, what goes on inside of us is like the roots of a tree”

The School Principal Mr. Stanley Anthony and Senior School Coordinator Ms. Sujata Sharma congratulated the class and praised the efforts of the students for putting up an inspiring assembly.

“Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago”
