St. Xavier’s High School - Saluting the Saga of Sportsmanship!

Glorifying the cutting edge of victory, on February 2, 2019, St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram, celebrated its much awaited Annual Sports Day - Sportonista with great zeal and gusto.

The function was presided over by the benign presence of Dr. Prem Chand Kashyap, Former Executive Director, Sports Authority of India, Mr. Jas Simran Singh, Mr. Harinder Singh and Mr. Govind as Guests of Honour and the charisma of members of the Managing Committee. The event also witnessed the aura of School’ Principal and Headmistresses and the manifestation of distinguished parents.

The sports meet was declared open by the release of balloons and white doves as a mark to the heartfelt dedication to the theme of the event ‘Let Peace and Harmony Prevail.’ Followed by it, an oath was administered by the Sports Captain of the school taking a pledge saluting the spirit of integrity, candour and uprightness. The day turned out to be a fun filled fest of the fantastic turnout of the students with mirth, vigor and delight. The spirit of sportsmanship and team spirit was well developed in the students. The spectators were enthused by the riveting performances and praised the efforts profusely.

The audience were awe-struck with the dazzling highlights of the event, which were, Horse Riding, Yoga, Pyramid Formations and Various Drills. Various drills represented the National Games of various countries which brought the experience of real-life International sports and were amplified by various international soundtracks. With the shining dresses, sparkling props and youthful vitality, the students captivated the audience attention leaving them astounded in the labyrinth of their minds.

The various track events like Relays, Flat Races and Novelty Races which were all about stamina and willpower, gave testimony to the competitive spirit of the runners. The events for the parents were no less! The moment the grandeur of this event began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement.

The Sports Day undoubtedly served as a whiff of fresh air to the students gearing up for their Annual exams. Along with highlighting necessity of sportsmanship in a world riddled with rat races for glory, it gave a platform to the students where preparation and opportunity met and the entire event became a spectacle to behold for all those witnessing it.
To conclude one of the most spectacular events of the year, the Chief Guest praised the endeavours of the St. Xavier’s family for the meticulous planning and execution of the events. He also applauded the visionary element of the school which nurtures and develops the students’ potential in field of sports.
