Street Play on the topic ‘Live in Peace and Harmony

            NEW

Ever since the emergence of mankind, numerous cultures have been produced, but preserving them with peace and harmony has been the real challenge. Someone has rightly stated, ‘Living in peace has transformative power!’ The quote was very well justified by the students of grade VII of St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram, who presented an awe inspiring street play on the topic ‘Live in Peace and Harmony in spite of cultural diversities.’The street play had put forward many questions, few answers and most importantly a message that left a deep impact on each and every person’s mind who was watching it.

Peace and harmony is long lasting value and a high wisdom. A world deprived of peace and harmony unquestionably will fall apart and return to the jungle era in which the strong prey on the feeble.

The message conveyed to the crowd watching it was made crystal clear by the slogans like ‘To survive in peace and harmony, united and strong, we must have one people, one nation and one flag!’ which were spoken repeatedly on the top of the student’s voice.

The play highlighted the evils of the mind-set of our society. Beats of dholki, dhapli, loud throats, jingles and commitment stunned the audience.

AbhijitNaskar stated that, “Humanity without humanity is no humanity, it's only a mockery of humanity.”  Hence, we all should learn, get together to celebrate the cultural differences and put forward the best efforts in order to make a nation where living in peace and harmony is preached as undoubtedly peace requires the cooperation of everyone. Unpeace only takes one!

XAVATHON : A mini Marathon; A Xavier’s initiative towards a healthy and pollution free Diwali

                    NEW

“Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game. -Michael Jordan.”

School is a temple of learning wherein, its endeavours and initiatives not only lead as examples, but imbibe the value deep in its roots. With pollution level reaching extremely intolerable, the school  in association with the Times of India took an initiative to organise a mini marathon called Xavathon.

The event was classified in four categories comprising  participants of different age groups: Group A (25-35 years), Group B (36 years and above), Group C (14-16 years), Group D (11-13 years)

The star studded event was witnessed by Asian Games Winners - Divya Kakran (Freestyle Wrestler) and Lakshay Sheoran (Shooter), and Shri Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner Gurugram,  presided the event as Chief Guest.

The students and the parents keenly participated in the event with over 700 runners.

The school students also organised a cultural programme including a rock band and a dance performance with a message to celebrate a safe, cracker free and pollution free Diwali.

The DC, the chief guest of the event also emphasised on the fact that pollution increases with each passing year and the celebration of Diwali may take place for one day but the pollution caused during the celebration spoils the environment for a longer period of time.

He also urged to promote the planting of more trees to heal the planet and have a better and prosperous planet for our future generations to come. The event was inspiring as the Asian Games winners also had an interactive session with the students around.

The wonderful day ended with the distribution of certificates and medals to the winners and the finishers of the marathon.

Sports build good habits, confidence and discipline. They make players into community leaders and teach them into how to strive for a goal, handle mistakes and cherish growth opportunities
