Being a part of any workshop is like being part of a really big family. On April 06, 2019, twenty educators from St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram got an opportunity to participate in one day Training Programme on ‘Intelligence and Wellbeing’ conducted by the esteemed Professors and Counsellors of Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences at O. P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat.

To explore ways to integrate Multiple Intelligence theory to curriculum, a number of interactive activities were conducted. Wherein, it came to life that intelligence is not numerically quantifiable, rather it is exhibited during a problem solving process or a performance.

The educators were briefed about the Multiple Intelligence theory with the help of a power point presentation. The eight major areas of Multiple Intelligence namely: Linguistic, Naturalistic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Bodily - Kinesthetic, Logical-Mathematical, Musical, Spatial were talked about.

‘The Education that treats everybody in the same way is the most unfair education.’ It was strongly emphasised that here is a great prominence of assessing the multiple intelligence in all the students. It can be done through simple observations, maintaining school records, interaction with parents, students etc.

Dr. Tithi Bhatnagar conducted a session on Coping with Stress and understanding Subjective Well-Being for effective relationships. Dr. Manjushree Palit talked about the best teaching practices and Emotional Intelligence. Gardner’s ‘Theory of Multiple Intelligences’ encourages educators to start thinking of intelligence as a set of many different abilities and skills that help an individual learner comprehend, examine, and respond to different types of content. The educators were told that the Teaching aids should be only prepared keeping in mind all these intelligences.

The workshop concluded with an interactive activity for teachers to help them understand the application of the Multiple Intelligences in the classroom. Overall, it was a highly interactive and application-based workshop.

Taking forward the flagship project Our School Our Family, the school had organised Intramural Basketball on Saturday, 06th April 2019 for fathers only of our students of Grades PreNursery to X from 6.30am to 8.15am. The adrenaline rush and excitement in the participants was boosted with the moral support and presence of their family members during the friendly matches. It was indeed a stress buster time for parent participants who are looking forward to such engagements.

        Books Donation Drive
           ...News & Events

“The simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful then a thousand heads bowing in prayer.”

When we give someone a book, we don’t give him just paper, ink, and glue, we give him the possibility of a whole new world. To spread the joy and happiness to the deprived and to supplement the resource pool of books, from 3rd April 2019 to 9th April 2019, St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram had initiated a ‘Books Donation Drive’.

This edge, not only supported the vision of reaching out to the underprivileged kids to help them study, but also, reinforced that books are a unique portable magic and they need to be made a part of the environment a child grows up in.

A total of 1440 books were donated by the parents. Along with contributing towards the society, this initiative also intended to enthuse reading habits and literature appreciation in children.

Proud Xavierians have rightly proved, ‘A true bibliophile knows the value of a book and most would go to any extent to share the joy of reading!’ On April 12, 2019, a group of 15 Xavierians along with 2 teachers visited an NGO to donate these books. This emotion of kindness, this experience of giving will forever remain threaded into the lives of the students.
