St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram has a resourceful Counselling and Guidance Cell wherein Individual interventions and remedial programs are conducted catering to the specific needs of the child. In addition, lot of orientation programs, workshops for students, teachers and parents and peer moderator programs are also being held on monthly basis.
We have a full-time School Counsellor- Manpreet Sandhu to facilitate students through their complicated time to utilize their potential to the fullest and peak their performance.
She is a Psychologist, Therapist and NLP Practitioner with seven years of experience in counselling and guiding students. She has provided emotional and psychological support to students struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, fear, phobia, low self esteem, and confidence building, relationship concerns, and substance abuse, social, behavioral and emotional problems and so on. She has conducted monthly workshops for the students, teachers and parents on the topics like Bullying, Substance abuse, Life Skills, Closing Achievement Gaps, Identification & Understanding Learning Disabilities, Positive Parenting Skills, Intrinsic Motivation, Mindfulness Teaching etc.
She truly believes patience, agility and enthusiasm are ingredients that is required to bring in our young children on a daily basis, in great lot.
ON GOING PROGRAMMES
‘STRINGS OF FAITH’- PARENT WORKSHOP PROGRAM
“String of Faith” is a platform wherein all important entities in a child’s environment can come together and work towards his/her holistic development and wellbeing. It is a point, a junction where important insights take birth. The aim of parent workshop is to help parents to learn how to resolve child’s concerns, their mutual differences and identify the ways of tackling challenges.
TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM
The teachers are sensitized and trained through "periodic workshops “to ensure a synchronized implementation of the skills in their curriculum teachings, school assemblies and other social events. To ensure a synchronized and a collaborative approach, the teaching provided with assistance during sessions, transition from one class to other, in new academic session.
MINDFULNESS WORKSHOPS FOR STUDENTS
Counselling Department conducts Mindfulness Workshops with students focusing on cultivating the foundational axioms of mindfulness i.e. attention, intention and attitude.These workshops make children to handle difficult situations, manage emotions and become a good human being. The workshops are designed to the cognitive level of the children. Sessions could vary from 45 to 60 minutes.
LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM
The Life Skills sessions are effectively provided to grade VI to X by School counsellor in the form of group sessions with the help of various activities, role-plays, questionnaires, group discussions and physical and relaxation exercises.
PRAYAS- PEER MODERATOR PROGRAM
‘Prayas’ is project where the learners of Middle school will be conducting interaction with the students of Primary school. We’re adopting a system wherein the learners will inculcate not only the gift of giving but also recognizing their own ability to nurture the gift of education which they’ve received. The idea is to create a connection between children from all walks of life.
WORKSHOP FOR ANCILLARY STAFF
Workshop was conducted for the support staff – guards, nannies and sweepers to sensitize them about the safety and security of all students.
