“STRINGS OF FAITH”

NEW

Under the program “Strings of Faith” an enlightening workshop was conducted for the parents of Grade II F at St Xavier’s High School, Gurugram on Saturday, July 29, 207 by our School Counselor. The aim of the workshop was to motivate the parents to create a positive home environment, discipline, physical punishment, believe in the concept of listening to their wards and to effectively meet up to any parenting challenge in today’s modern world. In keeping with our promise to pro-actively reach out in forms of workshops and seminars we had a powerful interactive session with our parents. Workshop also conveyed message to the parents to take up their role as fun and not as an additional pressure, thus balancing work and family. The workshop left a grave impact on the minds of parents who already began planning to re-structure their home environments to benefit their children with a complete focus on positive parenting.

SPECIAL WEEK - ‘MANNERS BEFORE KNOWLEDGE’

        NEW

The beautiful Special learning Week - ‘Manners Before Knowledge’ culminated with the concept of ‘Sharing is caring’ in Grade - Pre-Nursery. The teachers did role plays depicting ‘request’ and not ‘snatch’. Children brought dry snacks from their homes and shared with one another. They coloured a picture of a children sharing toys too.

The Nursery students culminated their special week with a short moral story session - ‘Respecting elders’ through the smart board and finally a role play done by teachers. The stories motivated the kids to give respect to earn respect in return. It was followed by creating alluring badges by the kids.

The Special learning Week –“Manners before Knowledge” concluded with a summary of  the whole week learning through a PPT. Learners of Kindergarten learnt about various values essential for them throughout their lives. This was followed by making of head bands with three magic words “Sorry”, Thank you” and “Please”.

SPECIAL WEEK - ‘MANNERS BEFORE KNOWLEDGE’

          NEW

Thank you, Sorry, Please, Excuse me spread MAGIC in Grade Pre- Nursery today. Our kids learnt how each of these words has secret powers. They also learnt that by using these we can see special and magical effects on people and make them smile. And of course, a beautiful magical garden with pretty flowers was created by them on papers.

Family is where life begins and love never ends. To inculcate the family values in kids, a story was narrated in the class followed by a brainstorming session. Children also enjoyed making a house (craft) with ice cream sticks and thumb printing to create the family members.

Gratitude is one of the most important skills kids need for a lifelong emotional well being. Kindergarten children learnt this value through a discussion on the same. The discussion was followed by a card making activity for our school helpers.

‘MINI RENDEZVOUS – GRANDPARENT’S DAY SPECIAL’ BY III – D

            NEW

The day on 20th July ‘2017 started with the very confident speakers of Grade III –D presenting the ‘Mini Rendezvous – Grandparents Day Special’ of this Academic Session! Parents, Grandparents, Uncles and Aunts were left spellbound by the performance of these students. The show started with an energetic but calming yoga session exhibited by the students! The Theme ‘HONESTY’ was beautifully depicted through skits, speeches, poems, songs and dance. The confident learners emphasized on the importance of honesty in our lives.  The cherry on the cake was of course the segment dedicated to the lovely Grandparents where their participation started with a quick workout of ‘Chair Yoga’ followed by a game of ‘REPLICATE THE CARD’. The children also presented their loved ones with ‘Fridge Magnets made of clay’ especially made by their own hands!

It was extremely motivating to see the grandparents participate enthusiastically in the programme and hear them express their love for the children and teachers’ effort.

SPECIAL WEEK - ‘MANNERS BEFORE KNOWLEDGE’

                    NEW

The words ‘Kids’ and ‘Table Manners’ hardly go together. So the Pre Nursery team picked ‘Dining Etiquette and Table Manners’ as the theme for the day as a part of the Special week! A presentation was given by the teachers doing what we expect our kids to do while eating at home, in school or at restaurants. The children were shown ‘how to put a napkin on the lap’, ‘how to use a spoon and a fork’, ‘chewing with mouth closed’ and ‘not to talk while eating’. This was followed by an art and craft activity depicting washing of hands before and after meals.

The Nursery wonders were taught about the ‘USE OF OUR HANDS’ in the right manner! The Circle Time emphasized to not use our hands to hurt anyone – hit/push/shove etc; but to help all! This was followed by a short story and craft work!

Small situations like snatching, pushing, hitting, etc were enacted by the Kindergarten teachers to explain about good manners in school. This was then taken forward with a discussion about how one should behave in school, home and other places!

SPECIAL WEEK - ‘MANNERS BEFORE KNOWLEDGE’

Moving ahead with the celebration of Special Week – ‘Manners Before Knowledge’, the thought ‘keeping the environment clean is as important as keeping ourselves clean’ was the next learning lesson for the students of Grade Pre Nursery! Children were taken for a tour of the school and play areas to show the cleanliness around. After playing in the Play Room they were shown how to keep the toys back on the right shelves. Something they should do at home too.

Another ‘Pepper’ story was narrated to the children where they were told about the importance of cleanliness followed by an art and craft activity related to dustbins.

Our Nursery Xaverians learnt about the ‘Magic Words’ through Story Narration of ‘The Little Bee’. They started their day with ‘The Manners Song’ and ended it with an interesting art & craft activity.  The Kindergarteners were taught about the importance of ‘Sharing is Caring’ through Story Narration of ‘The Rainbow Fish’. They ended their session with making crafty fish in different colours!

The topic ‘Keep yourself clean’ was well understood by the children as they were shown things which we use every day to keep ourselves clean such as toothbrush, soap etc. Stories were also narrated using ‘Pepper’ - a character as our mascot for ‘Manners without Knowledge’.

‘Magic Words’ were discussed with the learners of Kindergarten. They were given examples related to the same and the children also came up with their own interesting inputs. The Learners also enjoyed making a badge on Manners before Knowledge.

The Nursery Xaverians talked about ‘healthy and junk food’ through Story Narration. Children also made a small collage in which they pasted wrappers of healthy food and junk food items!

It has always been our endeavour to imbibe in our students the feeling of love and care towards the plant kingdom!! For the same we feel extremely happy and proud to say that PRISHA ANAND of PRE NURSERY – B and PRATYUSH ANAND of GRADE II – B planted 4 trees – 2 Gulmohar and 2 Mulberry trees in the School Premises on Friday, July 14 ‘2017. It was overwhelming to see their little hands plant and water these trees. This little effort towards a greener Earth is all thanks to their parents who not only initiated this plantation drive but also donated these 4 trees to the school. We earnestly thank Mr. PUNEET ANAND and Mrs. JAGRITI ANAND for such a benevolent and noble gesture!

‘’Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall’’

On July 13, 2017, a thought provoking assembly on the topic - Never Give Up, was conducted in St. Xavier’s High School. Gurugram. The children presented a soul - stirring thought that made everyone realize that to be a champ, you have to believe in yourself when nobody else will.

The assembly commenced with the Lord’s Prayer followed by an exuberant welcome by the cheerful anchors. They ignited us with the notion that most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.

After the inspiring words, the news was rendered and an extremely inspiring story was presented by a group of students. Also, the children highlighted and presented examples of many successful people who finally achieved success just because they refused to give up.

The beautifully coordinated dance performance on the theme mesmerized the entire arena. However, the song sung by the students was no less! It also enthralled and impressed the audience to great heights.

Last but not the least, words of appreciation by the Principal! He addressed the gathering and congratulated the class teacher and students of the class for presenting such an amazing show.  His words of wisdom encouraged everyone and left every face with a smile. This incredible assembly concluded with the school song.

We at St. Xavier’s High School, Gurgaon believe in the holistic development of each child. To further enhance this thought, a workshop was conducted for students of Grade - II on the topic- ‘Good Touch and Bad Touch’ on Monday, 10th July ‘2017 during the school hours. It emphasized on various ways by which a child can communicate about his/her feelings and how to distinguish between different kinds of touch such as safe touch, unsafe touch & unwanted touch. The students understood the concept about safe/unsafe touch by explaining to them in a simplified manner with the help of a PPT on the smart-board. The School Counsellor – Ms. Manpreet Dhaiya also asked a few students to volunteer and demonstrate few examples of good touch and bad touch such as hugging, pushing, slapping, and patting on the shoulder for better clarity on the concept. The interactive workshop also dwelled on the urgent need to empower young children & to report an abuse as children often keep abuse a secret and encourage them to confide their problems in parents & teachers.
