‘PROFESSIONAL ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMME’ WORKSHOP ON FIRST AID

“Get first aid right away….trouble comes when you delay”

This was the main essence of the workshop designed for the teachers of St. Xavier’s High School, Gurgaon conducted on Monday, 22nd May ‘2017 by Dr. ANGELA SHARMA from SOUL GUARDS. The workshop was very thoughtfully framed from enactment to discovery…from presentation to delivery of knowledge. The highlight of the workshop was information on cardiac arrest, stroke and epilepsy followed by their respective first aid measure – CPR, AED and breaths. A number of scenarios were also demonstrated focusing on the day to day accidents, allergies and injuries that we all face along with their first aid treatments. The teachers were asked to enact the roles of the patient and helper in different situations for hands on experience. The workshop ended with the thought ‘maintain your calm to cause no harm!’

    TALENT GALLERY – ART EXHIBITION

    Every child is an artist as Art is as natural as sunshine and as essential as nourishment!

    A success isn’t a day’s work, it is the untiring effort made everyday towards the zenith of success. It is rightly said that a correct step taken in the right direction at the right time is a sure shot way to success! Pablo Picasso once said, “I dream my Paint and then I paint my Dream". Every painter is a dreamer, so to unleash the hidden talents of the students; St. Xavier’s High School, Gurgaon organized 'THE TALENT GALLERY- ART AND CRAFT EXHIBITION'.

    Morning of 20th morning of May ’17 came with new colours – hues of happiness, joy and creativity! It was ‘The Talent Gallery – Art Exhibition’ presented by the students of Grades I, II, III.  The Gallery reflected all the creative work done by students in the months of April and May. The budding artists put up a fabulous show where they exhibited drawings, crafty birds, 3D animals, pottery work with different skills. A section of the Gallery was also dedicated to all our lovely mothers which reflected their contribution in celebrating Mother’s Day in School!

    The work exhibited and showcased the independence, creative approach and spirit of learning in a fun, exciting and innovative manner!

      St. Xavier’s celebrates the Investiture Ceremony

      “Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life”. To inculcate the leadership qualities in students and to give them a feel of the functioning of the administrative body, a school cabinet was formed in the Investiture Ceremony at St Xavier’s High School, Gurugram on Wednesday  May 17 2017.

      The function began with the lighting of lamp by the chief guest, Mr. Deepak Saharan, DCP East Gurugram and presided over by Reverend S. Solomon, Presbyter – in-charge, Church of Epiphany who offered a special prayer to motivate the future leaders. The stellar performance by the school choir mesmerised the audience. The meritorious students of the previous academic session were also awarded for their untiring effort and hard work throughout the year. To acknowledge the students’ regularity to school, 100% attendance awards were also given.

      Director of the school, Mr. Mohit Sachdeva and the chief guest gave the badges and stashes to the newly elected council members. The Principal, Mr. Nicholas Gomes administered the oath to the members of the cabinet.

      In his address, the DCP appreciated the effort by the school for providing opportunities to the students to take part in activities like these. He also congratulated the cabinet members for their preparedness to take responsibilities on their shoulders. He wished well to all the members of the school cabinet.

      The Principal gave a call to every member of the School Cabinet to be exemplary to other students and serve them well. He encouraged them to do as they say and say what they do.

        MOM & ME – FIRELESS COOKING ACTIVITY GRADE – I, II & III

        God could not come to earth to feed and take care of every child. So, he sent ‘Mother’ in place of him. She is considered to be the pillar of her child’s life. Whatever we have in our life is largely because of our mother. It was a fun filled day for the students of Grade I, II and III as the children very enthusiastically participated in the MOM & ME – FIRELESS COOKING ACTIVITY held on 16-05-17 to mark and celebrate Mother’s Day. It was heartening to see the children bond and help their mothers in preparing the dish and even more delightful to hear the children explain their dish and speak beautiful lines for their mothers!

          A TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS – TALENT GALLERY’

          As rightfully said by Rudyard Kipling, a mother is God for every child…she gives him life and her unconditional love and support, in his journey of existence! The morning of 13th May ’17 brought with it a beautiful array and display of crafty items made by the child & mom at St. Xavier’s High School, Gurgaon on 9th May ‘17. The display for the PTM scheduled on 13th was a delightful tribute to all the lovely mothers who took out time and came to the school to bond with their children in the MOM & ME ACTIVITY. The creativity was quite evident as the crowd moved from table to table and wowed at the different creations. All the moms were ecstatic to see their work of love displayed to be vied by all!

            Street Play : Baat Pate Ki

            Time lost never comes back, so make the best of it. Make the most of it.

            Xaverians of grade VIII brought the first street play of the Academic Session 2017-18.

            The play talked about , busy parents and ignored children. The students brought up the burning issue of lost childhood.

            The parents applauded the effort and realised the seriousness of the issue. A little effort made for their progress and time spent with them will create memories for them for their lifetime. The play also focused upon unhealthy  eating issues and distressed parents.

            The parents not only enjoyed the performance but took a serious lesson. Principal Mr. Nicholas Gomes applauded the effort of the students and congratulated middle school Coordinator Ms. Geeta Kanwar and her team for their untiring effort to make Xavierians outshine and become all rounders.

              The learners of Xavier's were invited to join in an art work shop at Paras World School

              The learners of Xavier's were invited to join in an art work shop at Paras World School on 9th May 2017. This workshop included 10 to 15 other schools of Gurgaon .The learners were divided into 2 groups , group 1: grades 1 to 2  had an active in weaving. Group 2 : grades 3 to 7 were given the activity of making a mosaic design. The learners in group 1 were given a mesh frame and different coloured ropes to weave through and creat a design of their choice. Group 2 were explained about mosaic and shown designs. They were then asked to Create a design of their choice. We were then informed that these designs will be put together and placed on the walls of Paras to display the learners creativity permanently. The Xavierians had a wonderful time creating these designs. They were then treated with some wonderful snacks which brought the show to an end.

                MOVIE TIME!! – GRADE - I

                After a full month of hardwork, oral assessments, adjustment to the new session and studies, the students of Grade - I had a very exciting day today as they went to watch the animated movie – BOSS BABY! It was a good break for the students from the regular routine and the children watched the movie with a lot of enthusiasm and were extremely excited to share their experience in the School after they had returned!

                  Inter- House Football Tournament

                  “It is not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference.”

                  Watching a football match is always a thrilling, adrenalin rushing experience. To nurture the quality of sportsmanship and inculcate the importance of physical activities, Inter-House Football Tournament was held for the boys of grades IV-IX in the school premises. The teams were divided in two categories- Junior comprising the students of classes IV-VI and Senior comprising the students of classes VII-IX. Blue House from both the categories reached finals and played against Red House and Green House in the Senior and Junior Category respectively on Monday. St Nicholas House defeated St Michael House in a neck-to-neck competition. In Junior Category, St Michael House tasted a great victory against the strongest team of St Patrick House. The young and energetic players enjoyed their segment of the tournament as they played against their peer in exciting matches. The Principal and the Middle School Coordinator encouraged the students for their laudable performances.
